Please ring the doorbell upon your arrival, no earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. I will come down to welcome you.
If you anticipate needing more time to climb the stairs (35 steps with railing) or need additional assistance, please contact me by email so we can arrange accommodations prior to booking.
Your appointment begins and ends according to the time in your booking confirmation. Please arrive on time to your appointment as I will not be able to accommodate adjustments. Each treatment is performed with the coverage of a secure drape (sheets and blanket). This drape is carefully adjusted by your therapist while treating the areas of your body that have been discussed and agreed by you in the treatment plan. Clients are invited to disrobe to their comfort level for treatment and most treatments can be performed over sheets or clothing if preferred. Please bring comfortable clothing if you prefer this option.
Your experience of this work is important to me. Please let me know at any time if there are ways I can better support you and your ability to give feedback in this therapeutic space and relationship.

S.T.R.A.I.T. Method manual scar release techniques can safely be used once the scar is 12-18 weeks old in the case of healthy tissue.
Before this stage, treatment involving gentle massage and manual lymphatic drainage techniques will support the healing process. Scars of any age benefit from treatment. Please contact me with any questions, and seek medical clearance if you have concerns about whether this is the right time to begin manual scar care.
A Timeline for Use of Manual Techniques in Rehabilitative Scar Care
Following surgery, injury or procedure
Indirect massage, myofascial release, and manual lymphatic drainage techniques can be used to support your healing by promoting comfort and relaxation, by keeping the area pliable, and by promoting circulation. In this early phase of the healing process, particular care is taken to avoid any engagement with or stress on the wound.
Once cleared for scar massage; 3 weeks - fewer than 3 months
During this period, the collagen network is less set and the fibers themselves are thinner and less dense. Therapeutic chemicals in the tissue, such as collagenase, are more active during this period. Light-pressure manual techniques and slow, deliberate engagement is required to guide remodelling of the scar tissue matrix.
3 months - 12 months
As the scar tissue matrix ages, collagenase concentration diminishes. During this period the pressure of manual scar techniques may be slightly increased.
Over 12 months
While firmly set, scar tissue over a year old can still be mobilized. Firmer and more direct pressure, combined with movement, may be used to optimize scar tissue health and function.

I craft two plant whisks for each Whisking and Massage Therapy treatment, based on a careful selection of local, un-treated and seasonally available materials. I source all plants weekly from my ecologically responsible supplier-collaborator at Mount Wolfe Farm in Caledon, ON.
Plants such as birch, oak, linden, maple, aspen and cedar have been used in whisking for hundreds of years.
All plants used in treatment at Dröm are tested by me for skin-contact safety. This treatment may not be appropriate for people with particular allergies or hyper-sensitivities. Please seek medical clearance and contact me by email if you have any questions or concerns about whether this treatment is right for you.
